Smoked Salmon and Asparagus Appetizer

I am a complete pushover when it comes to my dogs. Layla has this ability to look at me in such a way that I cannot NOT give her a little scrap of whatever it is I’m cooking (if it is safe for dogs, of course).

Kiwi + Camembert

On 13, Mar 2012 | No Comments | In Appetizer | By improvinista

This is the perfect snack for a sunny weekend—soft Camembert cheese paired with savory Kiwi fruit. Let your cheese set out for a few hours to soften and slice up some ripe kiwi for a refreshingly simple snack.

Spiced Cocoa Hot Wings

On 25, Feb 2012 | No Comments | In Appetizer, Entrees | By improvinista

Savory with a little kick—you can’t lose out on these hot wings! I would consider them the perfect gourmet football snack. Create your marinade and store it in the fridge for an hour, or overnight. This is an easy meal to prep ahead of time and save for later with your Food Saver. It never hurts to have one your your “secret weapons ” stored away in the freezer for a lazy night at home.

Step 1: Marinade

In a bowl, mix:
1/4 cup apple juice
1 tbsp tomato paste
1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tsp garlic salt
3/4 tsp chipotle powder
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

Add approx 3 lbs trimmed chicken wings to sauce mix. Marinate for 1+ hours.

Step 2: Grill over high heat until cooked through and slightly blackened.

Step 3: Remove from grill and garnish with chopped green onions.

Enjoy!
